Golden TriangleAugust - September Currents Update: Golden Triangle CCA Chapter As of this writing, BP has put the new, 2nd tower on top of the well, and is pressure testing the valves (7/13/2010, 9:15PM CDT). Everyone is praying that this will work, in conjunction with the relief wells that are very close to being finished. There are much smarter minds than mine writing about this right now, so I will not hypothecate on what will happen or should happen. I do know that I saw video of oil washing up on the shores of Sea Rim State Park last weekend—and it was enough to make me sick. We in Texas were sitting here hoping it would not come this way, but I would venture to say that Tropical Storm Alex and its counter-clockwise winds pushed the spill over the mouth of The Mississippi, thus catching the currents that sent it on to the Texas shores. The Texas Land Commisoner and the Coast Guard are doing a great job of cleaning it up very fast, so it is not overwhelming—yet. Our neighbors to the East are really having problems and we pray for them and their well being. On a positive note, I just finished cooking some wonderful red snapper throats that were a result of my niece, Lolo Bell, and her trip on The famous Adelante with John Martin Busceme last weekend, so there are still lots of good, fresh fish out there…thanks to CCA! The oil spill has put a new light on recreational fishing—there is always a silver lining, right? Hopefully everyone will come out of this turmoil with a greater understanding of the fragility of our fishery and the economic impact that recreational fisher-people and boaters have on our life on The Gulf Coast. With that said, go ahead and get out there and GO FISH!—Rocky Chase
