Greeting from the Coastal Bend! We’re trying to catch our breath here as we just put our 37th annual banquet to bed at the end of February. Wow what a turnout! Although our table sales were a little down in the weeks before the banquet, a large second-effort by our table sales board members and from our sponsors climbing on board we were able to sell out again this year! What a deal! Thanks to all of our attendees and sponsors for this great event, bigger and better every year!
Also thanks to Environmental Evolution Energy Services for your patience, as I failed to get your ad in the banquet program. Thanks for your understanding and support, and we’ll see you next year! In addition, I would also like to thank Nyati Services, Inc. and especially YT and Virginia for your support and patience as the hat sponsor.
A big thanks goes to Cody and Lauren Roesener for taking on the monumental task of serving as Banquet Chair and Co-chairs. Thanks to Jake Herring, Food and Beverage Chairman, for getting a great spread together and additional supplies we needed at the last minute. Silent auction and raffle Chairperson Judy Arnold and her team of Valerie Chilton, Colin, Alex and the TAMUCC Island Anglers put together one of the best tables of items that I have ever seen; there were tons of great art and prizes, and they hit a home run. Thanks to Joseph Briones, our boat chairman for his dedication and volunteering to sell boat tickets in some very inclement weather this year. It was another banner year and we all appreciate it. Thanks to Cliff Johnstone for getting the facilities together again, the place looked great. David Harris, Corey Survant, Barrett Fines, and Mike Henry made sure the Live Auction and Blackboard events did better than they’ve ever done. Thanks to Bruce Laser (Treasurer) for getting the Guides Cup together. Thanks to our AD John Blaha, and my CCA mentor Randy Poelma (past President) for making sure that we did it right. Thanks to the CCA-Texas staff (Kim O. and Amber) for looking up and keeping track of some administrative issues for us. The entire list is long, but thanks to ALL the CCA-CC boardmembers (also Troy Adler, Rodney Gamez, Dr. Robert Vega, Paul Silva, Margaret Ehman, Jeff Smith, John Arnim, the Hybner brothers, Robbie Robinson and many others) for getting it done, and making sure everyone had a great time, all in the name of conservation. We’ll be taking a break for a while, but yet planning our next events, most importantly the retreat! But after that, we’ll be hosting a skeet shoot later on, and preparing to host the Poco Rojo Kidsfish event, and the Guides Cup, and the ever popular Babes on Baffin Ladies fishing tournament, heading into our 11th year. Lauren Roesener will have more updates on the Babes website as time gets closer. Stay tuned, and drop me an email at email@example.com to learn how to participate. - Jay Gardner
