  • Currents - Oct/Nov 2017

Thanks to all who have contributed in many ways to help the folks on the middle coast who got whacked by Harvey. Chapter volunteers cooked food for thousands; helped clean up debris in Rockport, Port A and Port O’Connor; and helped with tech stuff like restoring electricity in homes. The oysters and fishery will bounce back, but Rockport and Port A will take much longer.

If you get this Currents before September 29, join us for our 2nd Annual Hooked on Golf Tournament at the Quarry Golf Club! Call me for last minute details. It is shaping up to be greater than our inaugural CCA Golf outing last year.

This is an initiative that Capt. Wayne is involved in to educate the public on the practice of catch and release in order to preserve the fishery for generations to come. Wayne will share his many years of experience and efforts for a healthy fishery.

September was a trying month for all in Houston and on the Texas coast, but let us count our blessings. And when life gets back to normal, remember to take a kid fishing. – Mike Sarosdy

  • The 2017 San Antonio  Chapter Annual Banquet was held on Thursday, May 4 at the Freeman Coluseum Expo Hall. Thank you to all of our sponsors, volunteers and attendees for supporting a fun night of fundraising!

  • The 2017 San Antonio Chapter "Hooked On Clays"  was held on Friday March 24 at the National Shooting Complex. We had an amazing turn out. Thank you to all who came out and showed their support!

  • The San Antonio Chapter of CCA was founded in 1979 as the Southwest Chapter of GCCA. From the very beginning, the San Antonio Chapter has been at the forefront of fundraising and policy making for CCA. Although located approximately 130 miles from the coast, the San Antonio Chapter consists of approximately 4,000 men, women and children who fish from Port O’Connor to Port Isabel. It is this diverse membership with ties to such a large portion of the Texas coast that has allowed the San Antonio Chapter to lead the way in CCA conservation efforts. Today, the San Antonio Chapter of CCA is the largest fundraising chapter in the nation, grossing over $1 million in our 2015 banquet. The San Antonio Chapter of CCA welcomes participation in its efforts from those interested in making positive impact on our coastal resources.
