Currents - Dec/Jan 2018
Wow! As we close out another great year for CCA and fish on into 2018, all I can say is, THANKS to all the volunteers and chapter members who make this the biggest and best CCA Chapter! And thanks to all the old geezers who launched our chapter 40 years ago and matured it, many of whom continue to go way beyond the call of duty.
Many thanks to John Blaha, Amie, Robby, Patrick and staff for what they do. And thanks to our sponsors and auction buyers – Without them we could not support CCA Texas in the way that we do.
We had many events this year, including Hooked on Clays, Hooked on Golf, five great social events, and of course, a really great banquet (Thank you Rick Neitzel and Banquet Committee). This could not have been done without great volunteers and enthusiastic chapter members, all of whom care about fish, kids and the future of our coastal habitat and fisheries, both inshore and offshore. We literally saw several hundred new faces at those events, and many want to get more involved. I would encourage all to do so!
Your next opportunity will be to step up and join the Banquet Committee at the early meetings in January, the first of which will be at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, January 9, at the Barn Door Restaurant. Everyone has something to offer, and it is a fun and very worthwhile experience. Contact me or Banquet Chair Robert Lozano (firstname.lastname@example.org) with any questions.
The Hooked on Clays Committee also will crank up in January for our 5th Annual Jimmy Gibson Sporting Clay Shoot, to be held in late March, under the very capable leadership of Bob Brumby (email@example.com).
Have a Happy Thanksgiving and a very Merry Christmas. Thanks for all you do to support CCA. And remember, TAKE A KID FISHING! – Mike Sarosdy

The San Antonio Chapter of CCA was founded in 1979 as the Southwest Chapter of GCCA. From the very beginning, the San Antonio Chapter has been at the forefront of fundraising and policy making for CCA. Although located approximately 130 miles from the coast, the San Antonio Chapter consists of approximately 4,000 men, women and children who fish from Port O’Connor to Port Isabel. It is this diverse membership with ties to such a large portion of the Texas coast that has allowed the San Antonio Chapter to lead the way in CCA conservation efforts. Today, the San Antonio Chapter of CCA is the largest fundraising chapter in the nation, grossing over $1 million in our 2015 banquet. The San Antonio Chapter of CCA welcomes participation in its efforts from those interested in making positive impact on our coastal resources.
